THE FAMILY, AT A GLANCE

Make room for
the everyday.

FamilyBoard brings your calendars, family photos, and local weather together on one shared display at home.

A personal, self-hosted project by Lucas Van Drunen, designed for a touch-friendly tablet on the fridge.

A little more connected. A little less juggling.

A PLACE FOR THE DAY AHEAD

One screen. The things
your family checks most.

01 / CALENDAR

See what’s coming.

Browse a rolling four-day agenda or switch to day, week, and month views. Swipe through dates and tap events for details. Choose which calendars to show and give each a color.

02 / PHOTOS

Keep memories in view.

Cycle through photos from public Apple Shared Albums. Pause, go back, or move ahead. A bounded local cache samples photos from the current month in other years.

03 / WEATHER

Know before you go.

Check the time, date, temperature, and current conditions alongside the calendar. Weather uses the location you choose in Settings.

GOOGLE CALENDAR, EXPLAINED

Your calendar.
A shared view.

FamilyBoard connects to Google Calendar so your household can see its schedule on the home display. You continue to create and edit events in Google Calendar.

How Google data is used →

What you authorize

  • Read calendar informationFind calendars available to your account, including shared and subscribed calendars, and configure which ones appear.
  • Read event detailsDisplay event names, dates, times, descriptions, and locations in the agenda and event details.
  • Keep the display up to dateStore authorization tokens on your local FamilyBoard server so it can refresh events without signing in each time.

FamilyBoard requests Google’s read-only Calendar permission. It cannot create, edit, or delete your Google Calendar events.

BUILT FOR HOME

Your dashboard runs locally.

The FamilyBoard app runs on your own Windows computer and serves a browser-based display over your home network. Google sign-in happens from that computer. This public website provides project information and policies; it does not sign you in, host the household dashboard, or receive your calendar events.
